Link Love Friday: Five Favorite Tutorials

California Summer Blooms

Over on CraftyPod, Diane had a fantastic idea: Link Love Fridays. In August she is hosting a theme for each week, this week is for favorite tutorials.

Here’s some fabulously crafty and brilliant ideas from some of the blogs I follow:

Washi Monogram Art

DIY Washi Monogram Art on Lia Griffith’s Handcraft Your Life

There’s so much potential for customizing a monogram like this. And it will give me more ideas for using up my washi tape stash.

Recycled tshirt canvas

Recycled TShirt Canvas Arty by Kim over at The Trashy Crafter

I have a ton of t-shirts I don’t wear but can’t part with because of the sentimental value. Making them into art is a brilliant way to use them. I’m thinking about seasonal decor – football season in particular.

Crocheted Balls

Purl Bee’s Whit’s Knits: Crocheted Balls

I look at these and think “Kitty toys!” Plus they’re pretty with the embroidery floss stripes. As always the Purl Bee’s photo tutorials are gorgeous and easy to follow.

Origami Spirit: Origami for Beginners: Butterfly Tutorial | Mariposa

Leyla Torres’ video tutorial takes you step by step to create beautiful butterflies. Her blogpost has some wonderful advice on being a beginner and perseverance.

My first “Love with Food” un-boxing video

Every month, Love With Food members receive a curated box of unique bites based on seasonal themes. This month’s theme was boardwalk. As a Love With Food member, I get to sample different products each month, earn points, and enjoy exclusive discounts to all full-sized products featured in the box.

For every box sold, Love With Food donates a meal to several food banks such as the Feeding America Network and Share Our Strength – No Kid Hungry. So when you join you are helping the more than 16 million children in America who are at risk of hunger.

Try tasty treats + help the hungry = Win!

Here’s a shot of the card that details the items in the box:

Travel Photo Friday – Chicago

Chicago at dusk

Chicago weather has been gorgeous, and my research into great places to eat has paid off. The highlight so far has been the pizza from Gino’s East. Tip: If you can manage it, get there right before 5 p.m. or soon after. We got there and waited only about 5 minutes. By the time we left the line was literally around the building.

This is the view from the Sheraton Towers room I have overlooking the river.

Delicious Baby hosts “Travel Photo Fridays” go there for more travel inspiration.
